"Uber Geek":

DETAILED INFORMATION

"Uber Geek" is the long awaited 4th album by "the great Luke Ski", one of the young stars of "The Dr. Demento Show". This album, full of parodies of rap and pop music, pokes fun at various aspects of fandom, a subject that Luke knows quite a lot about. He himself is, after all, the 'Uber Geek', a jack-of-all-trades in the realm of nerds, dorks, dweebs, trekkies, or to sum it all up in one word... he's a "FANBOY", which is the title of the first hit from this CD to climb the charts of the demented airwaves. Luke has been working on this album since the Spring of 1999, writing songs about the phenomenon of the new Star Wars films, Futurama, PokeMon, SpiderMan, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, the Muppets, Married With Children, the acting of Keanu Reeves, and even a 10 minute long Holiday Carol for all of his geeky brethren, titled "It's A Fanboy Christmas". The album features collaborations with fellow comedy musicians Tony Goldmark and the group Sudden Death, as well as cameos by Whimsical Will, Power Salad, Throwing Toasters, and more! So, if you're a raging dork looking for an album full of anthem songs to scream out to the mundane masses, or if you're just someone who enjoys high quality rap and pop music parodies, you are sure to get a kick out of this album. Remember, you don't have to be an uber geek to enjoy "Uber Geek", but it helps!

This is a comedy CD filled with song parodies done for the purpose of satire. But you probably knew that already.

the Special Thanks, Dedication, and Contact info:

This is the Special Thanks portion of the CD. My natural inclination is to thank damn near everyone on the planet, but since my space is limited here, I'm unable to do that. So I will start by thanking in general all of my fans out there who motivate me to make the best funny stuff that I can, all of the convention planners who are cool enough to include me in their festivities every year, all the DJs out there who play my stuff and keep the spirit of dementia alive for the next generation, all my fellow dementia artists who I am proud to be amongst the ranks of, my family who has always supported every strange thing I ever wanted to do, my friends who put up with me, and my wife who puts up with me even more.

Specifically, I want to thank the following people: To Roy Janik, head DJ of the funny music show "Nummy Muffin Cocoa Butter", who first dubbed me the "Uber Geek" in a review he wrote about me oh so many years ago, thank you for the nifty new title that I will forever wear as a badge of nerdly honor (www.nummymuffincocoabutter.com). To Tom Rockwell (a.k.a. Devo Spice of "Sudden Death") and Tony Goldmark for going out of their way to make some cool collaborations with me on this CD. To Whimsical Will, Chris Mezzolesta of "Power Salad", Grant Baciocco of "Throwing Toasters", and Art Paul Schlosser for joining in the fun by making cameo appearances on this CD. (Their websites are all listed in the liner notes.) To J. Styles, "Blasted Bill" Putt, Paul Hettiger, Michael Sienkowski, Raymond P Whalen, Nichol Archie, Davros, and Don't Quit Your Day Job Records for their contributions to this CD. To Chemele, for her beautiful vocals on track #14, I hope I can thank you in person someday. To J.T. Sienkowski, for the completely unbelievable mixing, sampling, and D.J.ing you do. Let's crank out some more bad-ass original rap dementia tracks for the next CD. To Daniel Robinson, without whom I would not be making CDs, your incredible talent in making my background music tracks all by yourself still amazes me to this day, thank you so much for being the unsung hero of the Luke Ski dementia crew. To Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz, "Weird Al" Yankovic, and Dr. Demento, for all of your incredible inspiration and support over the years to Steph and I. And last, but in no way, shape, or form least, to my wife Stephanie Wild, without whom I have no reason to exist. Please always remember that even when I'm off in my own little world, that you are still the most important thing in it. I love you.

As far as putting a 'dedication' on this CD goes, it's pretty simple. It's dedicated to YOU, the hard-core, geeked out, dorkus malorkus that you are, making up my fanbase. Both you and I have taken guff from the mundanes of this planet for our geekish ways for several years. This CD was made as a collection of anthem songs just for you. Until the next CD, which hopefully will be much sooner than this one was…

A few more notes of interest about "Uber Geek":

Fanboy
A late entry that year, "Fanboy" was #24 on Dr. Demento's "Funny 25" of 2000.

Peter Parker - featuring "Sudden Death"
This song just might end up being #1 on Dr. Demento's "Funny 25" of 2002!

Wannabe A Slayer - featuring Chemele as "the Spike Girls"
Two things. One, the idea for this song came from my wife Stephanie and her best friend Niki Archie. They came up with it and wrote out some lyrics while on a trip to see "Weird Al" in concert in 1999. Steph told me about this idea in 2001, and I thought it was great. So we finished writing it together for this album. Two, I have never met the female vocalist "Chemele" who sings on this track. She was hired by Daniel and recorded her parts before I got into town to finish the album. Wherever you are Chemele, thanks!

Who Let The Frog Out?
The only voice I did not do on this track was the laughing of the Count as the thunder claps (Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!). The reason for this is that was the only way I could use the thunderclap sample from the "Grouchland" movie it came from. All of the other dozens of Muppet voices were done by me.

Keanu Man
This song was originally written as a bonus track for "the Ray TV album", an R-rated sketch comedy double CD that will probably never be produced. We spent a decent amount of time on "Ray TV" making fun of Keanu Reeves, and this song is based on all that. Dude.

Obvious By My Absence - featuring a cameo by Grant Baciocco of "Throwing Toasters"
I asked Grant to write is own joke reason as to why he couldn't be there. Grant doesn't know this, but I really don't like Smallville. Which makes his excuse that much more brilliant. I laugh every time I listen to it.

C'mon Ride The Bus
Dr. Demento played this song on his show on the weekend closest to the 20th anniversary of "Another One Rides The Bus". Also, you can download a free MP3 of the LukeSki.com exclusive track "C'Mon Ride The Bus - Mass Transit Remix" on the Free MP3 Page of this website!

The Sign Of A True D-Fan - Uncut Mix - featuring Tony Goldmark
This is the first completely original song I've released on CD. Boo yah.

It's A Fanboy Christmas
The most frequently asked question at my vendor table following a show: "Which CD is 'It's A Fanboy Christmas' on?"

The Drunken Klingon
The photo on the back of "Uber Geek" is meant to recreate my Klingon joke from my piece "You Might Be A Trekkie". The Klingon is very excellently portrayed by "Blasted Bill" Putt, in a costume he made himself.

DORK CON XIII
Here is what the sign reads in the background of the album photos: DORK CON XIII - Welcome Trekkies, Klingons, Star Wars Freaks, Gamers, LARPers, Comic Book & Toy Collectors, Filkers, Renaissance Festival Goers, Computer Hackers, Video Game Players, Anime Watchers, "Rocky Horror" Participants, PokeMon Trainers, U.F.O. Conspiracy Theorists, "Wizard" Readers, and Hard-Core Dementia Fans! - (Along the bottom of the poster, the meaning of 'Uber Geek' is printed, written in a secret code only the most geekish of fanboys can understand. So, choke on that, meatbags!)
