Background on the 2 CD set:
“Fanboys” and “Shadows” are my first 2 CD releases. “Fanboys” was recorded in 1996 and initially released on cassette, and “Shadows” was recorded in 1997. They were both released on CD at the same time and sold as a 2 CD set ever since. The material was written sporadically from 1993 through 1997, with half of the parodies being either rap or alternative songs, and the rest being from miscellaneous musical genres. The reason why the CD is listed as being by “Luke Ski’s Psycho Potpourri” is because I was trying to give the illusion that I actually had a band. In reality, I did all of the work, and just took my friends along for the ride (other established dementia groups like that include the bands “Sudden Death”, “Power Salad”, and “Throwing Toasters”). Once I started working on my 3rd album, I dropped the band façade and simply started to list my work as being by “the great Luke Ski”. I did the majority of the vocals, with the most prominent sidekick vocalist on the album being my best friend, J Styles, who appears with me on the covers of both CDs via illustration. Most of the material are parodies about 90’s pop-culture things that we’re all familiar with, however some of the tracks on this album are very inside-joke driven, and were included simply because back in ’97 the idea of getting these things ‘immortalized’ on CD was quite astounding. Nowadays, I can do that on my own computer in about 13 minutes. All in all, they make a nice 2 hours of demented music, and any potential ‘Luke Ski’ collector should buy a set now, before they go out of print forever (which will be sooner than you think).
